Knowing your Enemy

T2

We are in a war – in a war, you must fight!

To fight you must have armor and weapons - those weapons are The Armor of God

10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

How do you get your set of Armor?

The helmet of Salvation

Romans 10:9-10

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

You are born again - you have eternal hope!

Are you authorized to use God's armor?

The breast plate of Righteousness authorizes you - your acceptance of the his shed blood gives you the right

The devil cannot come and convict you because the Father looks through Jesus as a lens when he looks at you, and all he sees is righteousness

2 Corinthians 5:21 - We are righteous because of what Jesus did - don't let the devil tell you different

21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

How do you learn how to fight?

2 Timothy 2:15

15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Wear the armor of God like you own it!

Defense

Ephesians 6:16

Fiery darts can be blocked

16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

Resist the devil and he will flee - 1 Peter 5:8

How do we submit ourselves to God?

Let’s take a look at how Jesus did it. The devil would come with a temptation and Jesus would immediately respond with: It is Written: and then would speak the scripture out loud. By doing this Jesus submitted himself to God. Jesus was hungry! – Relating to make the stones in bread. In the second example: The devil is trying to get Jesus to achieve results with the word, without using this faith and tempting the father. It didn’t work. In the 3rd example Satan tries to tempt Jesus to get all the kingdoms of the world without going to the cross.

Respond to the devil quickly with it is written

Equip your shield of faith with Psalm 91

10 There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.

Surely (meaning no doubt) he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler

Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.

Ephesians 6:14 - This means don't fall into sexual sin

14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth

God’s watching out for you when you walk in the secret place of the most high

Psalm 91:3

Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.

Cast down imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God

Bring every thought into the obedience of Christ

If we stop the starting of point of sin in our mind, then it won’t defile us when it comes out of our mouth

2 Corinthians 10:5

Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

Offense

The Sword of the Spirit - The word of God

Ephesians 6:17 - Use your tongue with the Word as a sword

...and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

Use: It is written - Just like Jesus did!

Ephesians 6:18 - Take action with prayer

What does praying always mean? - Be in an attitude of prayer and be ready to pray in season or in out

18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

1 Corinthians 2:16

12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Use Spiritual Weapons – Not physical

2 Corinthians 10:4

(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)

Ephesians 6:15 - Preparation of the Gospel of peace

Attack the devils kingdom - Shared Jesus with others

15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

Using faith in your daily life

Don’t throw in the towel before you start – don’t talk yourself out of a victory

Numbers 13:31-33

31 But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.

32 And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature.

33 And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.

Daily establish within yourself that Jesus made you the righteousness of God in Christ

2 Corinthians 5:21

21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

What does being the righteousness of God in Christ mean?

This means we are in right standing with God - and we can now approach the presence of God, with no condemnation of sin
